History
The Bucks Hardware Story:
Edward F. Buck founded Buck's Hardware in the Feltonville section of Philadelphia in 1921. His son Edward J. Buck
opened a second store in 1940 on the northeast corner of 13th & Cherry Streets.
In 1945, the Bucks bought 122 N. 13th Street, from the estate of John Wanamaker. Built in 1850, it was originally a private residence. The Bucks were the longest continuous owner in the building's history. Buck’s Hardware was displaced from this location thru eminent domain for the expansion of the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Demolition of 122 N 13th Street was completed in August, 2007.
Buck's Hardware is now located at 218 N 13th Street.
Bucks Hardware is a charter member of Induserve Supply, a strong co-op of industrial-based hardware retailers organized to serve commercial business needs. Bucks Hardware has supplied Center City Philadelphia buildings and businesses for many years and is still the closest hardware store to City Hall.
Now run by fourth generation partner John B. Buck Jr, Buck’s Hardware is well established and ready to serve all your hardware needs.
